Antaak

Klingon. Antaak was a researcher specializing in biological warfare at the Qu’vat colony in 2154. While working on a project to create Klingon Augments in response to an attack by Human Augments earlier that year that nearly destroyed the colony, Antaak was forced to solicit the kidnapping of Dr. Phlox, chief medical officer of the Enterprise NX-01, when the project was mutated by exposure to the Levoidian flu.[1]
Ultimately, the project was a failure, which was made worse by its imperfect solution: the Augment virus had spread throughout the Klingon Empire, and the only available cure resulted in the loss of the infected Klingon’s cranial ridges (and a more human-like appearance), but without any enhanced Augment abilities.[2] It would be nearly 120 years before a way to reverse the cosmetic changes wrought upon the Klingon genome would be found.[3] Despite the shame of his involvement in the project, and lamentations that even his pet Targ wouldn’t recognize him without his ridges, Antaak still held out hope for the future, as he foresaw a booming business in cosmetic surgery, restoring the lost ridges of infected Klingons throughout the Empire.[2]
