Baran, Arctus
Shrewd and ruthless captain of a mercenary vessel in 2370. Baran’s crew of about a dozen mercenaries raided archaeological artifacts from several star systems, searching for artifacts with a particular terikon decay profile. Baran controlled his crew with neural servo implants, which had been given to the crew by Baran’s predecessor.[1] In 2370, Baran was hired by agents of the Vulcan isolationist movement who sought to obtain fragments of the ancient Stone of Gol. Baran’s search attracted the attention of U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D Captain Jean-Luc Picard who, under the name Galen, infiltrated Baran’s crew along with Commander William T. Riker. Baran was killed before all the fragments could be assembled.[1] Portrayed by Richard Lynch.
