Two Organians played chess while occupying the bodies of Malcolm Reed and Travis Mayweather aboard the Enterprise NX-01 in late 2154.^[3] Sometime in the late 22nd or early 23rd century, a Three-dimensional variant of the game was introduced, which became extremely popular on Federation starships.^{[1, 2]}
