Chains of Command

Commander Riker must either give up the U.S.S.Enterprise or sacrifice his captain’s life.

The Enterprise crew discovers a series of Class-M planets that appear to have been destroyed in a major war. While in orbit around a glacial world, they find humans living in slavery. Not knowing there were humans who actually lived as free citizens, the glacial people revolt against their bird-like captors to escape their bonds. Picard must negotiate a peaceful settlement without violating the Prime Directive.
