The inhabitants of the planet Hera have genetically engineered themselves to be superior to the rest of the beings in the galaxy. A bold plot to eliminate the inferior takes shape in the form of a manufactured plague. And the Enterprise will be the testing ground. On board the ship, a new crew member hides her secret heritage and Picard tries to establish a peaceful settlement before war erupts.
