The planet Timshel was once the vacation destination of choice. For some reason, the inhabitants have isolated themselves and refuse any visitors. Two Federation agents sent to investigate never returned. When the Enterprise arrives, Kirk beams down to a strange world where everyone works in a hypnotic manner striving for the next payday. Payday enables one to experience total ecstasy from the joy machine. How can Kirk convince the computer that everyone does not want perfect happiness?
