The Constitution class Starship Yorktown was scheduled to rendezvous with the Enterprise in 2267 to transfer critically needed vaccines for planet Theta VII. The Enterprise was unable to make the rendezvous with the Yorktown until the investigation and destruction of the dikironium cloud creature was complete.[1]
The Yorktown was disabled during initial shakedown runs in Sector 001 by an alien space probe approaching Earth in 2286. Captain Joel Randolph reported that the ship’s chief engineer had rigged a makeshift solar sail to provide emergency power for the crippled starship.[2]
